Spell Research Recipes

For quite some time, EQTC has resisted the coaxing, whimpers, and sometimes outright demands for a spell research section on the site. It's always been an odd duck, with some folks arguing that it was a class skill, others arguing that it was a tradeskill, and, frankly, too much doggone work to sort out all the mish-mash of information out there. It was left to other sites, such as Mythiran Tower and EQCasters Realm, that specialized in spellcaster information. Times change. Tradeskills change. With the advent of the LoY expansion, spell research combines are required for some new tailoring recipes.

We won't promise to have a ton of information up here in any great hurry. We won't even promise to make a new navbutton for it, given that we're trying to devote our energies to the new database. However, we are gradually adding links to the listing below and fleshing out these pages.

**Please note**

Skill in spell research is limited by your level. You cannot train in research before level 16, and then can only gain 5 points of skill per additional level. At level 16 you can train 1 point at your guild, giving you at a skill of 16 (due to the way training skills at your guild works). At that point, because of the level limit, you cannot raise your skill any further until level 19. You can attempt to make spells before then, but will not be able to improve your research skill.

To determine if you can raise your skill by training or attempting recipes, use the following formula:

Maximum Research Skill = (your level - 15) * 5
So, at level 16 the cap = (16-15)*5 = 5. Putting one point in at 16 gives you a skill of 16, so you are already over the cap and can no longer improve.
At level 19 the cap = (19-15)*5 = 20, so you can practice or train to add 4 more to your skill.
and so on...
