Naming
Old world arrows are named by three of their
components, in order that they appear in the name, fletch, shaft,
and arrowhead. For instance, an arrow made with wooden vanes,
ceramic shafts, and hooked tips would be called a CLASS 4 Ceramic
Hooked Arrow.
The new Luclin arrows, on the other hand, are simply called Condensed
Substance Acrylia Arrows, where Substance is one
of Shadow, Flame, or Ice.
The nock never changes the name of an arrow.

Assembly
Arrows are assembled from four components, one
each of arrowhead, arrow shaft, fletch, and nock. Each of these
components contributes some combination of damage and range to
the arrow produced. To find the stats any combination will produce,
simply add up the stats from each of the components in the table
below, and add to the "base arrow", of damage 1 and range 50.
For instance, using the above example of CLASS 4 Ceramic Hooked
Arrows with Small Grooved Nocks, you would have +1 dmg from Hooked
Arrowheads, +2 dmg from Ceramic Arrow Shafts, +1 dmg and -25 range
from Wooden Arrow Vanes, and +50 range from Small Grooved Nocks,
for a total of +4 damage and +25 range. Add to 1 dmg and 50 range,
and you have an arrow of 5 damage and 75 range.
The trivial to make an arrow is the highest trivial value of the
four components. For instance, to make the CLASS 4 Ceramic Hooked
Arrow with Small Groove Nocks, the trivial of each component would
be 102 for Hooked, 135 for Ceramic Arrow Shafts, 122 for Wooden
Arrow Vanes (the CLASS 4), and 56 for the Small Groove Nocks.
Since 135 is the highest of these, that would be the trival value
of the arrow.
Most arrow combinations return 5 arrows upon success. However,
arrows with silver tips, and condensed substance acrylia arrows,
return 10 arrows instead. Additionally, these arrows are magic,
and can hit targets only affected by magic weapons.
Note that acrylia arrow shafts and condensed substance arrowheads
only combine with each other, a shield cut fletching, and a small
nock. The "Condensed Substance" can be one of Condensed Shadow,
Condensed Flame, or Condensed Ice, which result in an arrow that
does an additional 4 damage if the target fails to save against
magic, fire, or cold, respectively. These shafts and arrowheads
are made by Smithing.
All arrows have a weight of 0.1.

Naming
A bow is named by the tool with which it was
made (if any), the material from which it was made, and the cams
included or lack thereof. Much like the nocks of arrows, the string
is not reflected in the name of a bow. For instance, a bow made
with an Oak Bow Staff, Whittling Blade, one Standard Bow Cam,
and any string would be called a Carved Oak 1-Cam Bow.

Assembly
Bows are made by combining from two to five components
in your fletching kit. All bows include a bow staff and a string;
additionally, you may be able to add a tool and one or two cams,
depending on the bow staff material. If your bow staff is made
of elm or better, you may use a Whittling Blade. If your staff
is ashwood or better, you may use a Planing Tool. If your staff
is oak or better, you may use a single cam, and if it's darkwood
or shadewood, you can use two cams to produce a compound bow.
Unlike all other bow components, a tool is returned on failure,
but consumed on success.
Much like arrows, you can take the values for the individual bow
components from the table below and add or subtract them to figure
the stats of the resulting bow. Note that, although all the "extras"
actually reduce damage, they also reduce delay, usually enough
that the overall damage/delay ratio is improved. And, again, the
trivial of the bow is the highest trivial of its components (with
the complication that two cam compound bows have a different trivial
than single cam bows). For instance, making the Carved Oak 1-Cam
Bow mentioned above, with a Silk String, would have a base 21
dmg, 65 delay, 125 range from the Oak Bow Staff, minus 2 dmg 8
dly for the Silk String, minus 1 dmg 4 dly for the Whittling Tool,
minus 1 dmg 5 dly for the Standard Bow Cam, for a total of 17
dmg, 48 dly, 125 range. Trivial would be 192, the single cam trivial
being higher than the others.
All player made bows have a weight of 4.0, excepting the quested
Trueshot.

* Note that the range of a shadewood bow depends
also on the number of cams. A shadewood bow with no cams has a
range of 150, with one cam has a range of 175, and with two cams
a range of 200.
Restringing
Bows can be restrung for a slight modification
to damage and delay. Just combine the bow and the new string in
your fletching kit. The string must be a different type than the
bow is already strung with, and the combine never fails. Trivial
is 15.

Trueshot Longbow
To obtain a Treant Bow Staff (note that this
is LORE, but not NO DROP), you must speak with Maesyn Trueshot
in Faydark's Champions, the Rangers' Guild in Kelethin. Get a
components bag from him, and combine a Spiderling Silk, Micro
Servo, Wooden Shards, and Dwarven Wire.
- Spiderling Silk is obtained by killing spiderlings anywhere,
naturally.
Spiderling Silks are stackable and tradeable. You will need
one per Trueshot attempt.
- Micro Servos are dropped by Rogue Clockworks in the Steamfont
Mountains.
Micro Servos are stackable but NO DROP. You will need two for
every Trueshot attempt.
- Get Wooden Shards by giving a small lantern to Jyle Windshots
in Hogcaller's Inn in West Freeportdon't be fooled by the
Jyle in East Freeport! There is a chance (perhaps 1 in 20) that
Jyle may give you a Wooden Heart instead of Wooden Shards. If
you're a ranger yourself, hold on to this; it's used in the Raincaller
upgrade of the Trueshot. If you aren't, you might as well destroy
it because it's NO DROP.
If you're evil, you can also get Wooden Shards by killing treants,
but this can make it hard to pay Maesyn a visit later. But you
can often find them on merchants in areas where players kill
treants, if you find your warm welcome in Freeport is a little
bit uncomfortable due to one faction or another.
Wooden Shards are stackable and tradeable. You will need one
for each Trueshot attempt.
- Getting the Dwarven Wire is a small quest itself. It's
easiest to do this on the way back from getting the Wooden Shards
in Freeport. Get off the ship at Erollisi Isle in the Ocean
of Tears, run into the nearest hut, and buy Kiola Nuts. You
will need four Kiola Nuts per Trueshot attempt; these cost at
least 1gp 7sp 3cp each. Hopefully you can do this quickly enough
to run back to the ship before it leaves; if not, wait around
and catch the next one.
When you get to Butcherblock, go to South Kaladim and give Tumpy
Irontoe in Irontoe Eats one Kiola Nut and one Flask of Water
at a time. He will give you back one Tumpy Tonic for each of
these. Now go to North Kaladim, and locate Trantor Everhot.
He wanders, so you might have to search or track a bit. Give
him two Tumpy Tonics at a time, and he'll give you one Dwarven
Wire for every two tonics.
Dwarven Wire is stackable, but NO DROP. Get two Dwarven Wire
for each Trueshot attempt.
When you have combined these in the bag, give
it to Maesyn (make SURE you've combined it first!) and
he will return to you a Treant Bow Staff (LORE, but not NO DROP).
Now, in your fletching kit combine this Treant Bow Staff, another
Micro Servo, another Dwarven Wire, and a Planing Tool (bought
from bowyer vendors, costs at least 10pp 7gp 1sp). If you're either
very skilled or very lucky, you'll have your new Trueshot Longbow!
The combine is trivial at 235.
