All Velious
tailoring recipes other than the crystalline silk require the use
of the Coldain Tanners Kit
instead of a normal sewing kit/loom. (The crystalline silk can use
any sewing kit)
A lot of discussion, some of it very heated, has been stirred up
due to the tailored items in Velious. Many folks who are totally
new to this site are coming here in hopes of getting some of the
amazing items that can be made, and really have no clue how difficult
a task it can be to craft these lovely items. The path to grandmaster
tailoring via these items is difficult, painful, and quite expensive,
and not one to be undertaken lightly. Given the number of folks
venting on the message boards about this, I can't stress the previous
statement enough. There is no fast,
cheap way to get your skill high enough to reliably make the fine
furs and the velium leathers. Much like cultural
smithing, you are going to spend a lot of time, effort and money
on this, should you decide to pursue this. If you are simply drooling
over a piece or two of armor, it is highly recommended that you
find someone who is already working on their tailoring skill and
help them get their skill up, instead of starting your own
tailoring career from scratch. Advice for the non-tailor who is
helping collect items to get pieces made can be found at this
link.
For those looking for the class-specific armors, visit the
leathers section. Those
looking at the all/all caps, cloaks and moccasins, visit the furs
section. Those looking for the crystalline silks, and the pure-caster
ice burrower silk armor, will find it, unsurprisingly, in the silks
section. For the non-tailors who are drooling over this armor, visit
this lovely guide
for information on the difficulty/expenses you will incur in providing
the needed parts for your tailor to attempt this for you.
